The Brief

Woodhams were appointed to carry out the comprehensive refurbishment and enhancement of an existing industrial facility in Swindon. The brief was to deliver significant improvements to the site’s operational performance, structural integrity and external appearance, with the works carefully planned and executed so that the facility remained fit for continued industrial use throughout.

The Solution

Woodhams delivered a full refurbishment package covering the building envelope, operational equipment and external infrastructure, with the works planned and sequenced so the facility could remain in continuous industrial use.

A key element of the project was the complete modernisation of the facility’s roller shutter doors. Alongside the upgrade of the existing doors, Woodhams engineered, designed, manufactured and installed four new high-performance roller shutter units, significantly improving the security, durability and operational efficiency of the building.

The building’s external elevations were reclad, providing a modern appearance while enhancing weather protection and thermal performance. Steel restoration works were also undertaken, including the treatment and repair of structural steel elements to extend the service life of the building, and the masonry walls were repaired and redecorated, improving both their structural condition and the overall visual appearance of the facility.

Substantial improvements were made to the external infrastructure. The existing car park was resurfaced to improve vehicle circulation, safety and long-term durability, and new car parking areas were constructed, complete with kerbs and an upgraded stormwater drainage system to improve site accessibility and surface water management. Structural repairs were also carried out to the existing access ramps, restoring functionality and ensuring safe vehicle access across the site.

The Result

The completed refurbishment has transformed the facility into a modern, functional and resilient industrial asset. The combination of structural repairs, external upgrades, improved access infrastructure and new operational equipment has significantly enhanced the building’s performance, appearance and longevity. The project delivered a high-quality finish that supports the client’s operational requirements while providing a durable, low-maintenance solution for the future.
