Woodhams designs, fabricates and installs galvanised access steelwork, walkways, bridges, platforms and pipe supports for live water and wastewater treatment works – built in our own workshop to WIMES 9.02 and BS EN 1090 Execution Class 2, then installed with the minimum of time over open channels.
Safe, permanent access is a requirement on every treatment site: operators need to reach tanks, channels, screens, pumps and valves for inspection, sampling and maintenance without working over open water or at height. Woodhams fabricates and installs the steelwork that provides that access, together with the support steelwork that carries process pipework – as part of a wider MEICA package or as a stand-alone steelwork package for a Tier 1 contractor or water company.
Every structure is designed for the operational and maintenance access the site actually needs, and detailed to absorb the tolerances of existing concrete and pipework.
Because we install the pipework as well, pipe routes, supports and access are coordinated before anything is fabricated.
Everything is fabricated at our own facility at Woodhams Business Park, Rotherwick, which gives us full control over quality, tolerances and programme. Structures are built as modular sections, galvanised, then assembled and fitted out with flooring, handrailing and gates in the site laydown area before being craned into position – so most of the work happens safely at low level rather than over open tanks and channels.

Yes. Our in-house design team produces fabrication drawings to the client’s standards and WIMES 9.02, or we can work to a designer’s issued drawings.
Yes. We plan lifts and sequencing so that most fit-out happens at low level and time over water is kept to a minimum – the 60 m Holdenhurst bridge went in in one day.
